Community leaders and members dedicate the Flags for Heroes at Ramapo Village Hall on Veteran's Day 2022.
Rotary Club of Suffern's dedication ceremony for their first Flags for Heroes project at Ramapo Town Hall on Route 59 was a very moving event. The names of each hero were read aloud by Angus MacKenzie and ThomasThomas Reilly, chairpersons of this project. Heroes were from all walks of life were honored: armed services veterans, health care heroes, community workers, donors, and humanitarians.
Local officials distinguished guests that attended were: Michael Specht, Town of Ramapo Supervisor; Louis Falco, Rockland Chief of Police; Donna Silberman, Rockland County Clerk;Stacy Caridi, Montebello Deputy Mayor;Lance Millman, Montebello mayor; Bill Weber, NY senate elect; Joe Tursi, Hillburn mayor; Chaim Rose, Trustee of Chestnut Ridge; Yisroel Eisenbach, Trustee of Spring Valley, Avroham Sicker, mayor of New Hempstead; Michael Reisman, Councilman; Elijah Rechlin-Melnick, NYS Senator, representatives from Good Samaritan Hospital , Spring Hill Ambulance Corp, Ramapo Honor Guard and Ramapo Police Department. Rotary District Governor Larry Palant and past District Governor Carole Tjoa. Freshman Emma Lynch from Suffern High School also spoke at the dedication. (We give credit to Larry for making sure it did not rain on the Rotarians for the event.)
