Suffern High School Interact Club & Rotary Club of Suffern work together to create a holiday float for the Suffern Village Holiday Parade 2022.
This was the second year the Rotary Club of Suffern participated in the annual Suffern Village Holiday Parade held on  Saturday December 3, 2022.  Many hands make light work in a project such as this!  This is one of the projects where the Interact Clubs and the Rotary Club work together to participate in a fun community event. 
Each member has something special to contribute to the making of the float. The Interact kids brought their hands & creative minds to taking a pile of lights, garland and blow ups and arranging them on a bare flat bed trailer.  Rotary Club members pulled together the important basics: a truck, flatbed, generator, tools & decorations. Other members brought a fire pit, hot & cold drinks, snacks&  holiday music to provide refreshments & set the mood for the decorating.
The decorating theme was "Candy Cane Lane" for the float as it was trimmed with large illuminated red & white candy candy canes.  And of course, the blow up blue & gold Rotary Wheel was the center piece of the float! 
Thankfully, the day of the parade the rain stopped just in time for the parade. Interact & Rotary Club members rode the float as well as walked beside the float handing out candy canes. We were honored to have been awarded a trophy for the Best Community Group float!  The trophy will be kept at Suffern High School as a symbol of the important & beautiful efforts of the Interact Club members.  
 
Thank you to all who contributed to this community event. A very special thank you to the following members: Dennis O'Connell for his donation of his truck to pull the float, Angus MacKenzie rounded up a flatbed, brought this generator & decorations, Judy Klein brought her fire pit, firewood, tools. And thank you to the muscle men: Angus, Jim, Manny, John S. who helped assemble the picnic benches to the float, put up side railings on the flatbed & lifting of the generator into the flatbed of the truck. The float would not happen without these resources!
