Club Projects
Each Rotary Club has its own unique projects. Suffern Rotary Club has several long standing community projects and one of our favorites is the Arbor Day Sapling projects. Maybe one of the trees in your neighborhood came from a sapling one of the Suffern School District students planted. Some of these trees are approaching 50 years old! The Suffern High School Interact students help to divide and individually package the saplings into small plastic bags with directions for planting and care directions.
Another one of our favorite community projects is cleaning up the one mile section of Route 202 from Viola Road to Colline Drive. We love the beauty of Route 202 and feel very fortunate to be so close to Harriman State Park. So twice a year, every spring and fall we put on our work gloves, wear those reflective vests and the long arm grabbers and partner up to gather the trash that is left by the roadside. We immediately see the improvement of our community! And we have even had drivers who are neighbors stop to THANK US! One of these neighbors joined our club and planned this project the next year.
