Weekly Meetings
The January 6th meeting was held virtually with Amany leading the meeting.
A text was sent earlier in the week polling members on their choice to continue to have in-person meetings with a Zoom option or to have exclusive Zoom meetings for awhile. Some members commented that they did not like the hybrid meetings where there was a Zoom option for the in-person meetings. The members Zooming a hybrid meeting felt it was challenging to watch the in-person meeting.
***It is not too late to respond to the text with your opinion!
Peace Pole Project
Our Rotary Club would like to install our Peace Pole at the Suffern High School. It was suggested that eventually we would install a Peace Pole at each of the Suffern Elementary Schools.
The Rotary Club would hope that each school would celebrate World Peace Day with students every year on September 29th.
Members can view a Peace Pole that was installed at the Suffern Middle School by the PTA. It in front of the main entrance facing Hemion Road. It is surrounded by small bushes. Amany was part of the PTA that installed this pole. Permission to install the pole needs to be granted and then the school staff must provide installation . Our Club would have a ceremony upon completion of installation.
Interact Club Project
The Suffern High School Interact Club collected toiletries and assembled them into individual gift bags to be handed out with the Meals on Wheels earlier in December. Thank you to Amy for coordinating the club project.
Jamfest 2022
Location? Location? Location?
This is a recurring discussion! We need your input & help!
These are a few ideas tossed around our discussions:
1. The old Grand Union parking lot is off the table. This would be difficult to manage for the flow of the event.
2. Camp Scuffy was mentioned.
3. Boulder Stadium parking lot.
4. Suffern Theater- music indoors with food trucks outdoors.
5. Parking lot behind Suffern Town Hall.
6. Ball Field in Suffern where Suffern Day is held.
If you know anyone connected to scheduling events in any of the above mentioned, please reach out to them
Or
toss out another idea of a possible location!
Snack Attack
Thank you to John Shepitka, Elizabeth Stevens and Judy Klein for stepping up for this project, as well as Pastor Will and All Souls Church for their help.
Please sign up for a Thursday delivery. The snacks are picked up at All Souls Church and delivered to either Connor or Montebello School. They can be delivered either before or after the Thursday meeting. Two wheeled rectangular bins weighing approximately 10-15 lbs. for each school as well as 5-6 small bags of fruits are dropped off.
Wine Tasting Event
Judy offered her home for the event, however, she is going to investigate The Rhino Comedy Club located in downtown Suffern as a possible venue.
Judy and Evelyn heading up the committee. Date TBD.
Let them know if you would like to support the committee.
