Charter Nigh was at Suffern Crowne Plaza. Decor by Amany!
Thank you to two of our accomplished club members for their year of dedicated Rotary service: Amany Messieha Dgheim as Suffern Rotary Club President and Larry Palant as District Governor. We are proud of these People of Action & their many acomplishments. These are just a few acomplishments: Larry visited every club in the district but one, went to Australia to the Rotary International Convention & gave monthly Clubrunner instruction via Zoom. Amany installed a Peace Pole at Suffern High School, planned meetings at community sites & organized a blood drive. Best wishes to both in the coming year ahead in your new roles.

Suggestions for New Members
Sit with Treasurer and assist with checking people in at 4 weekly meetings. This helped them become familiar with the names of club members and also become somewhat familiar with the Treasurer duties.
Attend at least one (1) Suffern Rotary Board meeting. See how the board works.
Attend a weekly meeting at another club. See how other clubs do things.
Join at least one event committee (ex: JamFest, Street Fair, Bingo, etc.).

Donalee as Sergeant of Arms is bringing back these "One Dollar Fines for Fun" for breaking these meeting rules:
1)Arriving late- The bell rings at 12:15.
2)Using last names or titles.
3)Not wearing your name badge.
4)If your picture was in the paper and someone brought it in you must buy it back.
5)Talking too long during happy bucks- )maybe more than 2 minutes?)
6)Phone ring or text bing during meeting.
I have also heard you cannot say Happy Birthday until AFTER their birthday.
Ira is the Colonel of Arms when Donalee is not present.
Hands Needed
The Public Image, Fundraising and the Membership Committees need you. Public Image is a small group that develops and puts on the face of our club by social media posting, keeping our webpage updated and spreading the word about our good deeds. This committee needs people who will make flyers about our club, set up displays at events, photographs & stories for this Gazette and post flyers in the community. Fundraising is the money making machine of the club. The club needs money to do the good things we want to do for the community. Membership Committee helps with attracting new members & mentoring them along the way.
We want all members to participate & feel fulfilled in our club. There are many other ways to be involved.

Multi-District Day of Service
Suffern's People of Action were out on the trails on Sunday May 21st working to beautify & maintain our neighboring Harriman State Park. The original date of Saturday May 20th was rained out & moved to Sunday May 21st. The two trail projects completed on May 21s were led by the New York-New Jersey Trail Conference (NYNJTC). Club members brought family and friends to pitch in with improving the drainage of the Sloatburg White Bar Trail and the debris removal on the Suffern-Bear Mt. Trail in the village of Suffern. The third Suffern Route 202 clean-up project took place on Sunday July 1st. An amazing 23 bags of trash was collected. Evelyn even collected a passer-by who recently attended one of our meetings! Thank you to all who volunteered or brought a volunteer for this Day of Service.
